FLORIDA BIRD is taking a drop in class for this comeback from a couple of months on the sidelines. He was hammering on the door earlier this season with a couple of close seconds which weren’t helped by traffic problems. Stepping up to mile longer distance holds no fears as she has clocked up three wins over it.
Turnstone has few miles on the clock and took well enough to this distance when second here latest. Her win came over shorter but there’s more to come and the yard is in excellent form.
Get One More was done for toe over six furlongs having won over this trip on debut. She should be much better today.
FREEDOM HILL comes from a trainer in Robertino Diodoro who has a high strike-rate, particularly with horses having their first start for him. That’s the case today and this trip suits well judged on a good win at Turf Paradise two outings ago.
Bajan Cash landed a couple of good wins here earlier this season before a couple of more modest efforts. A return to his best form would see him right in the mix again.
Leo won at Turfway Park a couple of runs ago before looking in need of the experience on his Oaklawn debut last time out. He should take a step forward from that.
MACHO ROCCO has improved with each of his three outings and clocked a personal best when fourth over course and distance last time out. He wasn’t helped by being forced wide and has more to offer.
Broken Together was nailed in the closing stages when second on his course debut last month. He was coming back from a break there and should be fitter for the experience.
J’s Little Man went well for a long way when second here latest. He didn’t get any luck in running and could have finished a little closer. The blinkers are going on which could sharpen him up enough to strike.
MOMENT can overcome a wide draw if showing anything like the form that saw him win by an easy five lengths here last time out. He hit the front early and didn’t see another challenger. That was over this distance and in a slightly better grade so it’s hard to see him beaten here.
Ernie Banks has plenty of winning form elsewhere and is best forgiven his last run at Santa Anita that was too bad to be true. He won at Golden Gate before that and has strong place claims.
Around The Dial is consistent with three wins from his past five outings. He was a solid second on his return to Oaklawn latest and won’t be far away.
MO AND GO is eased in grade after never getting going over course and distance last time. It’s worth overlooking that because he has some solid form and has been working well ahead of this contest. This is just his seventh run so he’s entitled to progress.
Deanos Cape has been off the track a little while but his workouts have been strong and if he translates that to this race he’ll be right there.
Urbanite has not shown a massive amount in his three runs so far. This is a much easier race than those assignments and trainer Steven Asmussen does well with his runners at this level.
EXULTATION is coming right down in class to the lowest level of his career so far. He has been well backed on his past two outings in much stronger company and he wasn’t helped by taking the wide route last time out. He has placed form in better races and this six furlong trip is his best.
Bump Bailey was just over a length off the pace in third over course and distance latest. He’s another coming down the classes and his speed figures are the best on show.
Botero steps in class after being beaten in a photo here. He won a stronger race than this at Gulfstream at his best.
COURTING A KISS comes from trainer Norman McKnight who is a specialist at this level of claiming races. He does particularly well when teaming up with today’s rider Mojica Orlando. The horse is dropping in class to a level that saw him win at Woodbine last season. This trip suits and he should be right there.
Whiskey Echo has shown a little promise on his two runs here after winning at Fair Grounds’ Christmas meeting. He’s at his best over this distance and should be fit from his comeback fourth.
Coal Truth won a similar race to this two starts ago and left his challenge too late when fourth latest.
OUT OF TROUBLE goes back to dirt after meeting all kinds of trouble in running on turf at Fair Grounds last time out. She was bumped coming out of the stalls and had to come right round her rivals, which took its toll in the closing stages. She was beaten in a photo before that and is capable of striking at this level.
Road Test has been impressive since moving to Oaklawn with a second on debut before two excellent wins. This is a tougher contest but she has been clocking good times so should be competitive.
Kiss More was a good second in a similar race to this here last time and is another for the shortlist.
LUCKY BETTY had more than three lengths in hand when winning over course and distance earlier this month. She takes a slight hike in grade today but that was just her third outing so she’s entitled to improve.
Raggedy Annie has put in her best efforts over sprint trips so far but shapes as though a mile will suit and is another open to improvement.
Seattle Slang is another going up in grade on the back of an easy success, this time by five lengths. That was at Fair Grounds but she’ll go close if taking to Oaklawn at the first time of asking.
