Champion Dustin Poirier was defeated by lightweight world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in Abu Dhabi in their UFC 242 name unification bout.
30, nurmagomedov, filed the Poirier of America in the third round on Saturday to make it 28 wins from 28 struggles.
The Russian outwrestled Poirier over the first two rounds before eventually securing a rear naked choke to cement his position since the UFC’s number one fighter.
