If you compare the two headliners of the show, then everything looks as if Benavidez should leave the octagon with a belt. In addition to defeating Sergio Pettis with a separate decision a year and a half ago, Benavidez’ only offenders for his career are two former UFC champions Dominick Cruz and Demetrious Johnson. Each of them twice defeated Joseph, and three of these fights were title ones. A rematch with Cruz was for the WEC lightweight title, and battles with the Mighty Mouse for the belt being played on Sunday. If these failures are not taken into account, then Benavidez managed to clear out the entire lightest division in the WEC and the lightest weight in the UFC. He has a knockout punch and submission skills.
The 35-year-old Benavidez is one of the best fighters in the history of the lightest division. In the UFC promotion, Joseph has been performing since 2011. At the Ultimate Fighting Championship tournaments, the American spent eighteen fights, winning fifteen. Benavidez lost to Demetrious Johnson (twice in the battles for the championship belt) and Sergio Pettis. Last year, Joseph went into the octagon twice – defeated Dustin Ortiz on points and knocked out Jussier Formiga. Joseph is a versatile fighter with excellent wrestling, boxing, has Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills.
Joseph won 3 fights in a row and is in optimal shape.
Figueiredo entered the UFC a little less than three years ago with a record of 11-0, but only one of these wins was a notable opponent. But since he joined the UFC family, the Brazilian got several good wins over veterans and inflicted the first defeat in the careers of Jarred Brooks and Joseph Morales. Last March, he was defeated byJussier Formiga, whom Benavidez deftly finished several months later.
32-year-old Brazilian Figueiredo, like his future opponent, is close to the title attempt. Deiveson joined the UFC promotion in 2017. At the organization’s tournaments, the Brazilian held seven fights. The last two fights, Deiveson completed his wins over Alexandre Pantoja (on points) and Tim Elliott (guillotine). Figueiredo is also a versatile fighter with a rich set of skills – capoeira, BJ, boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai.

Benavidez vs Figueiredo Prediction
Benavidez has the necessary skills, experience and character to finish Figueiredo and become the third UFC flyweight champion. Figueiredo is only three years younger than the 35-year-old Benavidez. He has a slight advantage in the growth and span of his hands, beating hands and a decent fight. He finished four of six opponents defeated in the UFC.
This is Benavidez’s best and most likely last chance for the championship. If he stumbles, then he may not have enough time to get another title shot. Therefore, motivation is another strength of a native of Texas in this fight.
