John “The Magician” Dodson

Before getting on TUF Dodson’s professional career was not in the best way – in the first 6 years the fighter collected a record 11-5, having suffered losses, including from Yasuhiro Urushitani and Mike Easton.

Making his debut at TUF 14, John passed Brandon Merkt, and Johnny Bedford, then added to the UFC promotion roaster and in the final came out against T.J. Dillashaw, who won by TKO in 2 minutes. After that he defeated Tim Elliott and Jussier Formiga with a Title Shot against Demetrious Johnson, losing by points unanimously.

Currently, Dodson has a series of 2 defeats that have been suffered by Jimmie Rivera and Petr Yan.

Nathaniel “The Prospect” Wood

Athlete training sessions are conducted in Great Britain Top Team. Kickboxer on the base and, as a rule, prefers to work on his feet and do not mind to pick up. He also has good skills of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which he used earlier if necessary, and recently has been actively operating regardless of the situation.

In the spring of 2017 Nathaniel signed up for Cage Warriors and beat Vaughan Lee with a 135 pound secret shot. His rival for the title was Mark Kovacevic – the avenue easily passed the Croatian and won the belt, which after defending against Josh Reed and Luca Iovine, and thus attracted the attention of UFC management. In the top promotion the Englishman has 3 victories in the asset, won by submichens over Johnny Eduardo, Andre Ewell and Jose Alberto Quinonez.

Dodson vs Wood Prediction

John’s extreme speeches clearly hint at his downturn. It’s understandable, however, that age does make itself felt. He does not have the same speed in his hands and is lost under pressure, but retained the power in his fists. In its current form, Dodson objectively can’t interrupt a faster and more active opponent, who also surpasses it in terms of anthropometry – by 7 centimeters, both in height and handspan.

Fighters have a high level of protection against takedown. Having an advantage in the stand, Nathaniel is unlikely to actively try to drag Dodson into the parterre. However, he will also outperform his opponent there, but less significantly. Wood, he’s pretty good at changing positions and finding his way out, but it’s not an easy task to subdue John, just like finishing with a regular or technical knockout. In our opinion, The Prospect will work out the veteran in both ways and for the first time within the framework of the promotion will have a full fight.

Our prediction: Nathaniel Wood will win.
