The second round of the Flashpoint 1 tournament will see a game between Gen.G and Chaos. Both teams showed themselves in the first round, so the confrontation will be curious.

Gen. G

Gen.G has a winstring of nine meetings, which indicates a good shape of the team. Surely winning the DreamHack, the guys did not stop there and had a couple of convincing fights online. Gen.G was blown to pieces by Divine (2:0) and Orgless (2:0). The match with Envy wasn’t easy. Perhaps the guys had to roll in the tournament, and in the next meeting the game will go like clockwork.

Gen.G is ranked 14th in the world top hltv.org. This team appeared on the professional stage relatively recently – in early December 2019. The basis was taken from the past composition of the team Cloud9. Daps, autimatic and koosta after leaving Cloud9 found their home here, also joined CompLexity player Sick and Envy player s0m.

Together Gen.G won the IEM Katowice 2020 North America Open Qualifier 2, but the IEM Katowice 2020 North America Closed Qualifier failed. Immediately after that, the TyLoo team captain – BnTeT – negotiated a move to the Gen.G roaster instead of Sick. BnTeT spent too much time in the Asian region, he even managed to go with the team to major international tournaments, but still TyLoo remained at the dead end. Obviously, the player wanted further development and joined the promising international team Gen.G.

Just a week after the line-up upgrade, the Gen.G team takes part in the DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 North America Open Qualifier and takes first place there. But within the DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 North America Closed Qualifier is not competitive and takes only the third place. However, a week later Gen.G wins the DreamHack Open Anaheim 2020 North America Closed Qualifier, and a month later – the DreamHack Open Anaheim 2020 itself. I would like to note how quickly Gen.G has grown. After all, the guys did not lose a single card in such a large tournament, although the rivals were not weak. Gen.G defeated ENCE, CompLexity, North and FURIA.

As early as March, Gen.G was ranked 1-4 in the Americas Minor North America Closed Qualifier – ESL One Rio 2020, beating Divine and Orgless 2-0. In Flashpoint 1, the guys won the Envy team 2-1. Problems arose while Envy played with their coach on the sub.

Chaos

Smooya and the company dared the Brazilians from the beaten track, sending them to the bottom of the grid. Despite the victoria, we doubt their victory over Gen.G. Still, they played against a weak and defenseless team, and Gen.G had a bigger opponent. At the same time, Chaos play within the ESEA MDL and have almost no losses. If you take into account the mapp pool, Gen.G. has an obvious advantage.

Chaos Esports is ranked 34th in the world top hltv.org. Despite the fact that this tag was often seen at Tier 3 tournaments and even showed itself well, the organization decided to dissolve the old squad and collect a new one. So now most of the players of Chaos Esports Club are newones.

What can be said at once is that the lineup is quite young and the guys are still ahead. The guys have known each other long enough, because they played together in Ben’s Anime Team. There are no special achievements behind the guys, but they managed to beat some strong teams in their region. Being under the tag of Chaos Esports, the guys played only 14 games and won 8 of them.

Chaos came in 5th-8th at the IEM Katowice 2020 North America Open Qualifier 1, but still managed to make it to the closed qualifiers on the second attempt, beating Finch and eUnited. The IEM Katowice 2020 North America Closed Qualifier started with a 2-0 victory over FURIA eSports, but was followed by two losses from CompLexity and MIBR. Chaos won the DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 North America Open Qualifier and the DreamHack Open Anaheim 2020 North America Open Qualifier, but could not prove themselves in the closed qualifiers.

In February, Chaos Esports took 1st place in the FLASHPOINT North America Closed Qualifier and 3rd-4th place in the FLASHPOINT Global Qualifier – Pinnacle Open. Americas Minor North America Closed Qualifier – ESL One Rio 2020 passed extremely badly and ended in 9-12 place for the guys. On Flashpoint 1 itself Chaos team defeated MIBR team 2:0. But in the extreme matches on ESEA MDL Season 33 North America showed itself not at its best.

Interesting Facts

  • The teams have met 3 times, 2 wins for Gen.G
  • Gen. G rarely use overpass.

Gen. G vs Chaos Prediction

Gen.G has a strong map pool, but there are a couple of cards that they play that don’t matter – overpass and mirage. Chaos is very strong in Mirage, so we expect to see a hot confrontation. But at the end of three cards Victoria has to go back to daps and his guys, so we offer to place a bet on Gen.G to win 2-1 on cards.

Our prediction: Gen. G will win
