In one of the matches of the Play-in stage of the tournament ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe 2 Swedish teams will meet within the bo3 confrontation: Fnatic and NiP. What to expect from this match, and who will be stronger in the end? You will find out in our prediction.
Fnatic is ranked 5th in the world top of hltv.org. After the failure of the first half of 2019, Fnatic had to change something. Almost 2 months the team did not show up at the tournaments, and soon the solution to the problem was given to the general attention. As it often happens, the solution was to replace some players. The team was left by Richard “Xizt” Landström and Simon “Twist” Eliasson. Former Fnatic players Robin “flusha” Rönnquist and Maikil “Golden” Selim, who could not succeed in the new teams, were returned to their place.
The renewed Fnatic team participated in ECS Season 8 Europe Week 1, where they took only 3rd place, losing to AVANGAR team 1-2 in the semi-finals. And within the DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019, Fnatic seemed to have found their game. At the tournament on their native land Fnatic were especially good, defeating Team Vitality 2:1 in the final. Within ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe the guys took the 2nd place in the group, losing only to Astralis team. StarSeries i-League Season 8 turned out to be very favorable for the Swedish team. Fnatic reached the final, but still lost to Evil Geniuses, who were the world’s top-1 team at the time.
At ECS Season 8 Europe Week 5 the Swedes didn’t lose a single card and took 1st place, so they got to the current tournament. Within the ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe the guys performed not too confidently, having taken only 7-8 places. As part of the ECS Season 8 Finals team Fnatic twice defeated MIBR, but lost to Team Liquid and Astralis, taking 3-4 places in total. ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals started for the Swedes with a 3-16 defeat by EG. This was followed by a series of wins over Heroic, MIBR, 100Thieves, Team Liquid and Na`Vi. From match to match, improvements were seen in the game Fnatic. But in the bo5 final against mousesports, the Swedes could not even win cards.
The winter break for the Swedes was considerably longer. For more than two months, Fnatic had not played any official matches and had been working hard to prepare for the upcoming big and important tournament. As part of the IEM Katowice 2020, the Swedes confidently defeated the Renegades team 2-0. Their next opponent was Natus Vincere. Fnatic won an intense 2-1 match. In the match for direct access to the semifinals the guys met Astralis, but lost almost futile, taking only 17 rounds for two cards. The quarterfinal opponent of the Fnatic team was 100Thieves. The Swedes won 2-0, but it wasn’t easy at all. Still, both cards ended up 19-16 in favor of Fnatic. In the semifinals against G2 Esports the guys managed to impose a struggle and take the peak of the opponent, but in the end, the victory went to the G2 team.
Then, Fnatic won Europe Minor Closed Qualifier – ESL One Rio 2020, beating SMASH and Dignitas. The latter were in big trouble and Fnatic risked losing the game 0-2. Even then, there were problems in the game of the Fnatic team and instability of some players. As part of the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe, the guys took 2nd place in Group B, losing the leading position to the Natus Vincere team.
Ninjas in Pyjamas
Ninjas in Pyjamas are on the 11th place in the world ranking according to hltv.org. After the departure of Get_RiGhT, many fans wanted to put a cross on the NiP team, but the ninjas in Pyjamas proved to everyone that there is still powder in the gunpowder and signed the former captain of Fnatic – the player under the nickname twist.
The first tournament for the updated Ninjas in Pyjamas was DreamHack Masters Malmo 2019. The Swedes took 5th-6th place, but still showed themselves worthily against a number of teams. In the ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe, the ninjas in Pyjamas took 2nd place in their group, losing to Heroic 0-2. On StarSeries i-League Season 8 the guys defeated FURIA and Evil Geniuses. But that was the end of their success, NiP took 5th-7th place. After a short time, Ninjas in Pyjamas did a great job on BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2019, where they took 2nd place. The first 2 matches of the 2nd group stage of ESL Pro League Season 10 Europe were won by the Swedes returning to the game on the opponent’s cards. But in the decisive for themselves match NiP could not return against North and lost with the score 2:0, losing all chances at ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals.
On ECS Season 8 Finals, the Swedes took 5th-6th place, beating only AVANGAR, which showed a very mediocre game at the time. At BLAST Pro Series Global Final 2019, the Swedish team took 3rd place, which can be called a real achievement, as no one expected that NiP could beat Team Liquid and Astralis. Thus, the Ninjas in Pyjamas team finished the year on the 10th place in hltv.org rating. But here is another legendary player – forest, leaving the lineup to play in Dignitas with the old timeframes. He was replaced by GamerLegion’s nawwk. And the whole setup of the NiP team started anew.
The Swedes took 7-9th place at BLAST Premier Spring Series 2020 and 9-12th place at IEM Katowice 2020. However, after only 1.5 months, the ninja pajamas took 1st-4th place at Europe Minor Closed Qualifier – ESL One Rio 2020, beating Apeks and BIG. And in the group stage ESL Pro League Season 11 Europe NiP beat Astralis, Team Spirit and GODSENT without losing a single card. However, then they lost to Team Vitality team, shaking their chances for the 1st place in the group. Ninjas in Pyjamas had a chance to come out from the first place if they defeated the ENCE team, which lost to absolutely everyone and had no chance to enter the playin. But the Swedes managed to give a vital victory, which threw the guys even on the 3rd place in Group A.

Fnatic vs NiP
There are equal in strength opponents, they have already played with each other. Proceeding from statistics of personal meetings, it is possible to draw conclusions that Fnatics are inconvenient opponents for Nips. However, it is worth considering the fact that a lot of time has passed since the last face-to-face meeting. Besides, there have been some changes in the lineups. Based on the current game form of both teams, we propose to take a risk and win Ninjas in Pyjamas. The match is online, where Fnatic has never been known for stable results.
