Greater Manchester Police have started an investigation after the club’s expulsion from the EFL.
Following C&N Sporting Risk pulled from a takeover the club dropped his League One status.
In a short statement, the Greater Manchester force stated:”On 18 June 2019, police received a report of fraud involving Bury Football Club. No arrests are made and they’re continuing.”
Sky Sports News understands this investigation is not in regard to the Bury owner Steve Dale.
That report was made exactly 1 month earlier Dale attained a company voluntary agreement with the club’s creditors to refund 25 per cent of their 9m they were owed.
But this deal depended upon the team being allowed to play this season, something the English Soccer League, worried about the ability to finance those debts and the costs of the team of Dale, refused to sanction.
This led missing deadlines to prove he could meet his obligations or sell the team. The EFL ran out of inspiration Tuesday and expelled in the league.
No arrests have been made so far.
