Jonny May says he has not given any thought to an Alan Shearer-style celebration if he strikes a try at St James’ Park.
England face Italy in their final World Cup warm-up in Newcastle on Friday night, live on Sky Sports, with Eddie Jones going to place a side before his side’s championship opener against Tonga.
May is excited about playing at the historic home of the Magpies, but says not to anticipate that a sight if he crosses the whitewash around Tyneside.
“No, I hadn’t thought about that yet,” May told Sky Sports when asked of a potential Shearer bash. “I think it’s really best to engage everyone across the country, therefore to go up north and play with a game there is brilliant.
“it is a really cool arena, lots of history there. I’m very enthusiastic about it.”
The winger says it has been a tough pre-season, together with the squad in Italy this week for a few warm-weather coaching, and wants to return to playingwith.
“It’s been a long time coming. It feels like we have worked to get a lengthy time period now,” said May.
“We have been back in Treviso this week getting some additional tough work in. It is likely to come around quick today.”
The Leicester man is not thinking much about that which Japan offers outside of their grounds, also says the team’s only thoughts are on winning the trophy.
If asked what excites him around Japan, the 29-year-old stated:”I simply can not wait to have from the scene and play some French.
“Only to get out there, play some rugby, embrace the atmosphere, play at a World Cup, reflect your nation – these items are thrilling.
“The concept would be to peak out there in Japan and also to peak in the closing. We would like to go out there and win it”
